Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cyanobacterial extract L30-O is a research-stage organic extract derived from the *Nostoc* cyanobacterial strain 113.5, which was originally isolated from the lichen *Nephroma arcticum* in Finland. Identified in a 2014 academic screening study, the extract demonstrates potent apoptosis-inducing activity against acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cells, including the rat IPC-81 and human Molm-13 cell lines. Notably, L30-O has shown the ability to partially overcome chemoresistance associated with the overexpression of the anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2. As a crude natural product extract, its specific active chemical constituents have not yet been purified or characterized, and it has not progressed into formal clinical development.
