Cyclizine is a piperazine-derivative antihistamine and antiemetic used for the prevention and treatment of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness associated with motion sickness and vertigo. It is also used to manage nausea caused by general anesthesia after surgery, cancer treatments or other medicines, as well as inner ear problems such as Ménière's disease. Cyclizine acts primarily as a histamine H1 receptor antagonist in the brain but also exerts central anticholinergic (antimuscarinic) effects. Its antiemetic action may involve depression of labyrinth excitability and vestibular stimulation along with possible effects on the medullary chemoreceptor trigger zone. The drug was originally developed by Burroughs Wellcome (now part of GSK) in the United States[5][3][1].
