Drug intelligence / Profile preview
cyclo(L-leucyl-L-prolyl) (also known as gancidin W) is a naturally occurring cyclic dipeptide (diketopiperazine) produced by various bacteria and fungi, including marine-derived *Bacillus amyloliquefaciens* and *Streptomyces* species. It exhibits broad-spectrum antimicrobial, antifungal, and antivirulence properties. In *Candida albicans*, cyclo(L-leucyl-L-prolyl) acts as a non-fungicidal antivirulence agent that inhibits biofilm formation, yeast-to-hypha transition, and germ-tube formation by targeting the Ras1-Cyr1-Pka-Efg1 signaling pathway, making it a promising candidate for the management of Candida-associated denture stomatitis. Additionally, it has been shown to target the tetraspanin CD151, disrupting its interaction with EGFR and thereby inhibiting the migration and invasion of triple-negative breast cancer cells. It also exhibits antimalarial activity against *Plasmodium berghei*.
