Overview

Cyclo(L-tyrosyl-L-tyrosyl), also known as (3S,6S)-3,6-bis(4-hydroxybenzyl)piperazine-2,5-dione or cyclo(tyrosyl-tyrosyl), is a diketopiperazine derivative formed by the cyclization of two L-tyrosine residues. It is a small molecule with the molecular formula C18H18N2O4 and a molecular weight of approximately 326.35 g/mol. This compound has been identified as a natural metabolite produced by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and has also been reported in Apis cerana. While it is listed in pharmaceutical compound libraries such as ZINC15 and DrugBank as an experimental small molecule drug candidate (DrugBank ID DB08761), there are no approved indications or clinical trials reported for this substance to date[1][2]. Its mechanism of action and pharmacological properties have not been characterized in detail.
