Overview

Nourexal (cyclocreatine phosphate or CCrP) is a small molecule bioenergetic agent being developed by Nour Heart. It functions as a high-energy phosphate donor designed to preserve cellular ATP levels and bioenergetics during periods of hypoxia or ischemia, such as those encountered during cardiac surgery or organ transplantation. By providing an alternative source of high-energy phosphates to the ADP/ATP pathway, Nourexal aims to protect the myocardium from ischemic injury. The drug has received FDA Orphan Drug designation for use in heart transplantation and is currently in the IND-enabling phase for indications including high-risk cardiac surgery, transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
