Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cyclodynon is a herbal medicinal product containing a standardized dry extract of the fruit of *Vitex agnus-castus* (chaste tree), specifically the BNO 1095 extract. It is primarily used for the treatment of menstrual cycle disorders such as premenstrual syndrome (PMS), mastodynia (breast pain), dysmenorrhea, and other menstrual irregularities. The mechanism of action involves dopaminergic activity at dopamine receptor subtype 2 in lactotrophic pituitary cells, leading to inhibition of prolactin secretion. This effect helps reduce symptoms associated with mild hyperprolactinemia and related menstrual complaints. Cyclodynon has also demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting oxytocin-induced uterine contractions and suppressing inflammatory mediators in vitro[1][4][5][6][10].
