Overview

Cycloferon is an immunomodulatory and antiviral small molecule drug developed by POLYSAN Scientific & Technological Pharmaceutical Company. Its active ingredient is meglumine acridone acetate, which functions as a low molecular weight inducer of endogenous interferons, specifically interferon-alpha and interferon-gamma. By stimulating the production of these cytokines, Cycloferon enhances both innate and adaptive immune responses, activating T-lymphocytes, B-lymphocytes, macrophages, and natural killer cells. It is primarily indicated for the treatment and prevention of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), but it is also approved in Russia and several Eastern European countries for the treatment of herpesvirus infections and chronic viral hepatitis B and C. The drug is available in multiple formulations, including enteric-coated tablets and injectable solutions.
