Cyclogynon

Cyclogynon is an oral combined hormonal contraceptive developed and manufactured by PT Tunggal Idaman Abdi, an Indonesian pharmaceutical company. It contains two active small molecule ingredients: the progestin levonorgestrel (0.15 mg) and the estrogen ethinyl estradiol (0.03 mg). Formulated as sugar-coated tablets in a 28-day cycle (typically 21 active hormone-containing tablets and 7 placebo tablets), it prevents pregnancy primarily by suppressing ovulation through the hormonal inhibition of gonadotropins via the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis. Secondary mechanisms include thickening cervical mucus to impede sperm penetration and altering the endometrium to reduce the likelihood of implantation. It is indicated for the prevention of pregnancy in women of reproductive age and is approved and marketed in Indonesia.
