Overview

This is a combination regimen consisting of three drugs: - **Cyclophosphamide** is an alkylating agent (small molecule chemotherapy) that interferes with DNA replication and transcription, leading to cell death. - **Prednisolone** is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid (small molecule) with anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. It induces apoptosis in certain cancer cells and suppresses immune responses. - **Rituximab** is a monoclonal antibody targeting the CD20 antigen on B lymphocytes. It mediates B-cell lysis through multiple mechanisms including complement-dependent cytotoxicity, antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity, and direct induction of apoptosis. This combination has been used primarily for the treatment of indolent non-Hodgkin lymphoma as well as for idiopathic membranous nephropathy[6][9]. Each component has distinct but complementary mechanisms—rituximab targets malignant or autoreactive B-cells; cyclophosphamide provides broad cytotoxic activity; prednisolone offers both anti-tumor effects and supportive immunosuppression.
