This is a combination chemotherapy and supportive care regimen consisting of three cytotoxic agents—cyclophosphamide, docetaxel, and doxorubicin—plus the granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) filgrastim. The combination is primarily used in the treatment of breast cancer, including early-stage operable disease and metastatic settings. Cyclophosphamide is an alkylating agent that crosslinks DNA to inhibit cell division; doxorubicin is an anthracycline antibiotic that intercalates DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II; docetaxel is a taxane that stabilizes microtubules to prevent cell division. Filgrastim supports neutrophil recovery by stimulating the proliferation and differentiation of neutrophil precursors via activation of the colony-stimulating factor 3 receptor (CSF3R), reducing the risk of febrile neutropenia associated with myelosuppressive chemotherapy[2][4][5]. This regimen has demonstrated efficacy in improving pathological complete response rates in breast cancer patients but carries risks for hematologic toxicities such as neutropenia[1][2][3].
