Overview
A combination chemotherapy and hormonal therapy regimen consisting of three cytotoxic agents (cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, and fluorouracil) plus the selective estrogen receptor modulator tamoxifen. This regimen is primarily used in the treatment of breast cancer, particularly in hormone receptor-positive disease. Each component works through different mechanisms to target cancer cells, with cyclophosphamide damaging DNA, doxorubicin interfering with DNA production and repair, fluorouracil preventing DNA synthesis, and tamoxifen blocking estrogen effects in breast tissue.
