Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of four anticancer drugs: cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin (Adriamycin), gemcitabine (Gemzar), and paclitaxel (Taxol). This specific four-drug combination has been studied in breast cancer treatment. The combination works through multiple mechanisms: doxorubicin damages DNA at any point in the cell cycle, cyclophosphamide damages DNA during the resting phase, gemcitabine is a nucleoside analog that inhibits DNA synthesis, and paclitaxel stabilizes microtubules and blocks cells in the G2/M mitotic phase.
