Drug intelligence / Profile preview
This is a combination chemotherapy regimen containing multiple anticancer agents. Cyclophosphamide is an alkylating agent that damages DNA by binding to it and causing cross-links. Doxorubicin (also known as Adriamycin) is an anthracycline antibiotic that damages DNA by inserting itself between DNA bases. Leucovorin is a reduced form of folate that can help protect normal cells from methotrexate toxicity. Methotrexate is an antimetabolite that inhibits dihydrofolate reductase, preventing DNA synthesis. Procarbazine is an alkylating agent that can cross the blood-brain barrier.
