Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, methotrexate, and leucovorin. This combination is often used as part of larger regimens for treating non-Hodgkin lymphoma, particularly large-cell lymphoma. Methotrexate is an antimetabolite that inhibits dihydrofolate reductase, while leucovorin (folinic acid) is used as a "rescue" agent to reduce methotrexate toxicity. Cyclophosphamide is an alkylating agent that cross-links DNA strands, and doxorubicin is an anthracycline antibiotic that damages DNA by intercalation.
