Overview

This is a combination regimen consisting of cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, and pegfilgrastim. Cyclophosphamide is an alkylating agent that cross-links DNA strands, inhibiting DNA synthesis and cell division. Doxorubicin is an anthracycline antibiotic that intercalates into DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II, leading to DNA damage and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells. Pegfilgrastim is a long-acting recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) analog that stimulates the proliferation, differentiation, and activation of neutrophil precursors to reduce the risk of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. This combination is commonly used as part of dose-dense chemotherapy regimens for breast cancer and other malignancies[1][2][5][6][9][10].
