Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of the alkylating agent cyclophosphamide, the anthracycline doxorubicin, and the farnesyltransferase inhibitor tipifarnib. This combination has been studied primarily in breast cancer treatment. The standard dosing regimen includes cyclophosphamide (600 mg/m²) and doxorubicin (60 mg/m²) administered intravenously on day 1, plus tipifarnib (typically 200 mg twice daily) given orally on days 2-7 of each cycle, often with G-CSF support in a dose-dense schedule every 2 weeks. Tipifarnib inhibits farnesyltransferase enzyme activity in tumor cells, which may enhance the anticancer effects of the standard AC (doxorubicin/cyclophosphamide) chemotherapy.
