This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of three cytotoxic agents—cyclophosphamide (an alkylating agent), epirubicin (an anthracycline antibiotic), and fluorouracil (a pyrimidine analog antimetabolite)—together with lenograstim, a recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). The CEF or FEC regimen is widely used in the treatment of breast cancer, particularly for node-positive or advanced disease. Cyclophosphamide crosslinks DNA to inhibit cell division; epirubicin intercalates into DNA and inhibits topoisomerase II activity leading to DNA damage; fluorouracil inhibits thymidylate synthase disrupting DNA synthesis. Lenograstim is included as supportive care to stimulate neutrophil production and reduce the risk of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia[1][7]. This combination aims to maximize antitumor efficacy while managing hematologic toxicity.
