Overview

This is a combination regimen used primarily in the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer. The regimen combines three chemotherapy agents (cyclophosphamide, epirubicin, and fluorouracil) with two monoclonal antibodies targeting HER2 (pertuzumab and trastuzumab). Cyclophosphamide is an alkylating agent that interferes with DNA replication; epirubicin is an anthracycline topoisomerase II inhibitor; fluorouracil is a pyrimidine analog antimetabolite. Pertuzumab and trastuzumab are both monoclonal antibodies that bind to different domains of the HER2 receptor, providing dual blockade to inhibit cancer cell growth and survival[1][4][5]. This combination aims to maximize efficacy by combining cytotoxic chemotherapy with targeted therapy.
