This is an oral combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of cyclophosphamide, etoposide, and prednisone. Each component is a small molecule drug with distinct mechanisms of action: - Cyclophosphamide is an alkylating agent that crosslinks DNA, leading to cell death. - Etoposide inhibits topoisomerase II, causing DNA strand breaks and preventing cell division. - Prednisone is a synthetic glucocorticoid corticosteroid that induces apoptosis in certain cancer cells and has anti-inflammatory effects. This combination has been used as part of metronomic (low-dose, continuous) therapy for relapsed or refractory lymphoma patients who may not tolerate intensive regimens. The regimen aims to provide effective antineoplastic activity with reduced toxicity by maintaining continuous drug exposure[1][4][5]. It is particularly considered for indolent lymphomas but may be used in other hematologic malignancies.
