This regimen is an adoptive cell therapy (ACT) protocol consisting of non-myeloablative lymphodepleting chemotherapy followed by the infusion of autologous tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) and subsequent interleukin-2 (IL-2) administration. The chemotherapy phase utilizes cyclophosphamide and fludarabine to deplete host lymphocytes, creating a favorable environment for the engraftment and expansion of the infused cells. The TILs are expanded ex vivo from the patient's own tumor tissue and are primarily composed of CD4+ and CD8+ T cells that recognize tumor-associated antigens. Post-infusion, aldesleukin (recombinant IL-2) is administered to promote the survival and proliferation of the transferred T cells in vivo. This specific protocol is being investigated by Inge Marie Svane at Herlev Hospital for the treatment of oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC).
