Overview

This is a combination chemotherapy regimen consisting of cyclophosphamide (an alkylating agent), novobiocin (a coumeromycin antibiotic), and thiotepa (an alkylating agent). The combination was studied primarily for treatment of advanced breast cancer. Novobiocin was included in this regimen based on its ability to potentially reverse alkylator drug resistance by inhibiting DNA repair, thus improving the efficacy of high-dose chemotherapy. The regimen is typically administered with autologous marrow support.
