Overview

The combination of cyclophosphamide and nab-paclitaxel is a chemotherapy regimen primarily used in breast cancer treatment. Cyclophosphamide is an alkylating agent that forms cross-links with DNA, preventing cell division and leading to cell death. Nab-paclitaxel is an albumin-bound formulation of paclitaxel that works by binding to microtubules and stabilizing them, preventing their disassembly and thus interfering with cell division. This novel formulation allows for higher drug concentrations in tumors compared to conventional paclitaxel, while eliminating the need for toxic solvents. The combination aims to enhance efficacy with manageable toxicity and has shown promising results in clinical trials, particularly for HER2-positive breast cancer in the neoadjuvant setting.
