Cycloplatam is a second-generation platinum-based antitumor agent developed in Russia. It demonstrates antitumor activity in both in vitro and in vivo models, showing comparable cytotoxicity to cisplatin in various cancer cell lines, including ovarian and lung cancer. Cycloplatam displays a different spectrum of antitumor activity compared to cisplatin, with promising preclinical and early clinical results, notably in lung, ovary, and prostate cancers. It is less nephrotoxic than cisplatin or carboplatin and less toxic in animal models, while potentially showing higher antitumor activity than carboplatin[2][4]. Cycloplatam is under phase II clinical evaluation in Russia and Armenia[4].
