cycloprofol

Cycloprofol (HSK3486) is a novel, short-acting intravenous anesthetic and sedative agent developed by Haisco Pharmaceutical. It is a 2,6-disubstituted phenol derivative that acts as a positive allosteric modulator of the gamma-aminobutyric acid type A (GABA_A) receptor. Chemically related to propofol, cycloprofol incorporates a cyclopropyl group intended to enhance potency and improve the safety profile, particularly regarding injection pain and respiratory/hemodynamic stability. It is primarily indicated for the induction and maintenance of general anesthesia, as well as for procedural sedation in settings such as gastrointestinal endoscopy and intensive care. Cycloprofol was first approved in China in 2020 and has since expanded its indications to include sedation for fiberoptic bronchoscopy and intensive care unit patients.
