Overview

HU00701 (also known as HU007 or Clacier Plus) is a fixed-dose combination ophthalmic solution containing cyclosporine (0.05%) and trehalose (3%), developed by Huons for the treatment of dry eye syndrome. Cyclosporine is a cyclic peptide that functions as a calcineurin inhibitor, reducing ocular surface inflammation by suppressing T-cell activation and the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Trehalose is a disaccharide that provides osmoprotection and bioprotection to the corneal epithelium, stabilizing cell membranes and protecting against desiccation-induced damage. This combination therapy aims to provide superior efficacy over cyclosporine monotherapy by simultaneously addressing the inflammatory and osmotic components of dry eye disease. It was approved for marketing in South Korea in 2020.
