CycLuc1 is a synthetic, brain-penetrant luciferin analogue used as a substrate for bioluminescence imaging (BLI). It is a cyclic alkylamino-luciferin that provides improved photon flux and superior blood-brain barrier penetration compared to the standard substrate, D-luciferin. This makes it particularly effective for monitoring intracranial tumors, such as glioblastoma, in preclinical xenograft models. By reacting with firefly luciferase (typically expressed via lentiviral transduction in target cells), CycLuc1 enables sensitive, non-invasive tracking of tumor growth, metastasis, and response to therapy in vivo.
