Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CYD-1,3 is a **bivalent, live-attenuated recombinant dengue vaccine** composed of ChimeriVax-Dengue viral constructs targeting dengue virus serotype 1 and serotype 3. Each component virus is genetically engineered from the yellow fever 17D backbone, replacing the pre-membrane (prM) and envelope (E) genes with those from the respective dengue virus serotype. CYD-1,3 is designed to elicit neutralizing antibody responses against dengue virus types 1 and 3. It is used as part of alternative immunization strategies, including sequential regimens where it may be followed by other bivalent vaccines targeting additional serotypes. CYD-1,3 has been studied in phase IIa clinical trials for safety and immunogenicity, and has demonstrated a strong immunogenic response particularly against serotype 3, though the bivalent regimen does not enhance immune response breadth compared to tetravalent formulations. It is not marketed as a standalone product; rather, it is a research formulation developed to study dengue vaccine strategies[1][2].
