Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CYD-1,3 dengue vaccine + CYD-2,4 dengue vaccine is a bivalent dengue vaccination strategy developed by Sanofi Pasteur using the ChimeriVax-Dengue (CYD) platform. This approach involves the sequential administration of two bivalent formulations: one targeting dengue serotypes 1 and 3 (CYD-1,3) followed by another targeting serotypes 2 and 4 (CYD-2,4). The vaccine is based on a live attenuated yellow fever 17D virus backbone, where the genes for the pre-membrane and envelope proteins are replaced with corresponding sequences from wild-type dengue viruses. Investigated in Phase IIa clinical trials in Mexico (2008-2009) as a potential alternative to the tetravalent CYD-TDV (Dengvaxia), the strategy was found to offer no immunogenic advantage, as the second injection elicited only a low immune response against serotypes 2 and 4.
