Cykin

Cykin is an oral small molecule inhibitor of cyclin-dependent kinases 4 and 6 (CDK4/6), containing the active ingredient palbociclib. Developed and marketed by Genvio Pharma (Genovi Pharmaceuticals), it is a generic version of the reference drug Ibrance. The drug's mechanism of action involves selectively blocking CDK4 and CDK6, which are critical proteins in the regulation of the cell cycle. By inhibiting these kinases, Cykin prevents the phosphorylation of the retinoblastoma (Rb) protein, thereby halting the progression of the cell cycle from the G1 to the S phase and restricting the uncontrolled growth of cancer cells. It is specifically indicated for the treatment of hormone receptor (HR)-positive, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)-negative advanced or metastatic breast cancer, often used in combination with an aromatase inhibitor or fulvestrant.
