CYN102 is an experimental oncolytic viral immunotherapy developed by Cynvec LLC. It utilizes a bioengineered Sindbis viral vector (SV vector) that naturally targets cancer cells via the high-affinity laminin receptor (LAMR), which is frequently overexpressed in various tumors. The vector is designed to express the tumor-associated antigen NY-ESO-1. CYN102 works through a dual mechanism: direct oncolysis of tumor cells and the induction of a systemic, memory T-cell-mediated anti-tumor immune response against NY-ESO-1-expressing cells. Currently in preclinical development, it is primarily being investigated for late-stage ovarian cancer, with potential applications in other NY-ESO-1-positive malignancies such as melanoma, synovial sarcoma, and various carcinomas.
