Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cynarix is a traditional herbal medicinal product developed and manufactured by Pharmazeutische Fabrik Montavit GmbH. Its active ingredient is a standardized dry extract of artichoke leaves (*Cynara scolymus*), which is rich in caffeoylquinic acids such as chlorogenic acid. The drug is primarily indicated for the relief of digestive system disorders, including symptoms of dyspepsia such as bloating, nausea, flatulence, and sensations of fullness. Its primary mechanism of action involves a choleretic effect, which increases the flow of bile to facilitate the digestion of fats, particularly after heavy meals. Cynarix is available in oral coated tablet formulations, including a high-potency 'FORTE' version containing 600 mg of extract per tablet, and is approved for use in adults and adolescents aged 12 years and older.
