Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CYP-011 is an investigational allogeneic cell therapy comprising mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) derived from induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) using the proprietary Cymerus™ manufacturing platform. Developed by Cynata Therapeutics, this product is designed to address the limitations of traditional MSC therapies, such as donor-to-donor variability and scalability issues, by utilizing a consistent iPSC source. The primary indication for CYP-011 is the prevention of organ rejection in patients undergoing renal transplantation. Its mechanism of action relies on the potent immunomodulatory properties of MSCs, which secrete a variety of cytokines and growth factors that suppress the activation and proliferation of T-lymphocytes and modulate the maturation of dendritic cells. By fostering a more tolerogenic immune environment, CYP-011 aims to improve long-term graft survival and potentially reduce the requirement for chronic, high-dose systemic immunosuppressive medications, which are associated with significant side effects.
