cyperus amuricus extract

Cyperus amuricus extract is an herbal preparation derived from the whole plant of Cyperus amuricus, a perennial sedge used in oriental folk medicine for its purported astringent, diuretic, wound healing, and intestinal-protective effects. In preclinical studies, particularly using methanol extracts, it has demonstrated inhibitory effects on the proliferation of human hepatocellular carcinoma (Hep3B) cells by inducing cell cycle arrest and promoting apoptosis through modulation of cell cycle regulators and activation of caspases, with effects mediated via mitochondrial membrane permeability, cytochrome c release, and regulation of pro- and anti-apoptotic proteins. The extract has also shown traditional use in the treatment of wounds, tumors, and gastrointestinal complaints, and exhibits antioxidant and pancreatic lipase-inhibitory activity in vitro. However, there is no established clinical trial evidence or regulatory approval for pharmaceutical use.
