Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Choliv is an oral combination therapy developed by Caplet India, formulated as a syrup or drops, containing cyproheptadine, tricholine citrate, and sorbitol. It is primarily indicated as an appetite stimulant and digestive aid to treat anorexia, support weight gain, and manage malnutrition in both children and adults. Cyproheptadine acts as an antihistamine and serotonin antagonist, targeting the hypothalamus to stimulate appetite. Tricholine citrate serves as a lipotropic and bile acid-binding agent that mobilizes fat from the liver, supporting hepatic function and improving digestion. Sorbitol acts as an osmotic laxative to prevent constipation and serves as a pharmaceutical syrup base. Choliv is approved and marketed in India.
