Overview

CYR119 is a central nervous system (CNS)-penetrant small molecule stimulator of soluble guanylate cyclase (sGC). It amplifies endogenous nitric oxide (NO)-sGC-cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) signaling, which plays a key role in modulating neuroinflammation. Preclinical studies have shown that CYR119 reduces markers of inflammation in the CNS and improves peripheral myelin thickness, nerve function, and motor coordination in models of Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease types 1A and 1B. The drug has been developed by Cyclerion Therapeutics for potential use in neurological disorders characterized by neuroinflammation[1][3][4].
