CYR61 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the *CYR61* (Cysteine-rich angiogenic inducer 61) gene, also known as *CCN1*. CYR61 is a secreted, heparin-binding protein and a member of the CCN family that plays a pivotal role in cell adhesion, migration, proliferation, and angiogenesis. In various cancers, including prostate cancer, CYR61 expression is often upregulated—frequently induced by growth factors such as IGF1—and promotes tumor progression and metastasis by activating the PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. By utilizing the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, CYR61 siRNA specifically targets and mediates the degradation of CYR61 mRNA, leading to a significant reduction in protein levels. This silencing results in the inhibition of tumor cell growth, viability, and colony formation, making it a potential therapeutic strategy for limiting tumor growth and metastatic spread.
