Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Cysticlean is a botanical product and Class IIa medical device developed by Vita Green Europa S.A., primarily indicated for the prevention and treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs) and cystitis. Its active component is a concentrated dry extract of the American cranberry (*Vaccinium macrocarpon*), standardized to provide a high dose of 240 mg of proanthocyanidins (PAC) per capsule. The mechanism of action is based on the anti-adhesion properties of PACs, which interfere with the ability of *Escherichia coli* bacteria to adhere to the epithelial lining of the bladder and urinary tract, thereby preventing colonization and infection. Marketed in Europe since 2007, Cysticlean has been studied in Phase 4 clinical trials to evaluate its efficacy as a non-antibiotic alternative for uncomplicated cystitis in women.
