Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**Cystistat** is a sterile intravesical solution containing 40 mg sodium hyaluronate in 50 mL, designed for temporary replacement of the deficient glycosaminoglycan (GAG) layer on the bladder epithelium. It restores the protective barrier function, preventing penetration of urine irritants, bacteria, microcrystals, and toxins that trigger inflammation, pain, urgency, and frequency. Primarily indicated for interstitial cystitis/painful bladder syndrome (IC/PBS), recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs), radiation-induced cystitis, and other bladder conditions like those from trauma, urolithiasis, or neoplasia; administered weekly for 4-12 weeks then monthly via catheterization, with minimal systemic side effects and good long-term tolerability.[1][2][3][5][8][10]
