Overview

CYT-1853 is a preclinical, second-generation small-molecule inhibitor of the DNA repair protein RAD51 that was being developed by Cyteir Therapeutics for the treatment of hematologic malignancies and solid tumors. As part of Cyteir’s synthetic lethality DNA damage response platform, CYT-1853 was designed to more potently and selectively inhibit RAD51-mediated homologous recombination repair than the first-generation compound CYT-0851, thereby increasing DNA damage and tumor cell death in cancers that rely on RAD51 for survival.[5][7][9] IND-enabling studies were initiated using proceeds from Cyteir’s Series C financing, but the company later strategically paused and postponed submission of the IND to conserve resources and prioritize clinical development of CYT-0851 and earlier discovery efforts.[2][4][8][13]
