cytarabine + gilteritinib

Cytarabine + gilteritinib is a combination chemotherapy and targeted therapy regimen used as consolidation therapy for patients with FLT3-mutated acute myeloid leukemia (AML). This specific regimen is being evaluated in a Phase III clinical trial sponsored by the Institute of Hematology & Blood Diseases Hospital, China. The treatment involves intermediate-dose cytarabine, an antimetabolite that inhibits DNA polymerase and incorporates into DNA to induce apoptosis, followed by gilteritinib, a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of the FLT3 and AXL receptor tyrosine kinases. This consolidation phase is intended for patients who have achieved a composite complete remission following induction therapy, aiming to eliminate minimal residual disease and prolong survival.
