Overview

Cytarabine + nimustine is a combination of two chemotherapeutic agents used primarily in the treatment of certain cancers, particularly hematological malignancies. Cytarabine is a pyrimidine nucleoside analogue that acts as an antimetabolite, inhibiting DNA synthesis by competing with deoxycytidine triphosphate for incorporation into DNA, leading to cell death. It is most commonly used in the treatment of various forms of leukemia, including acute myeloid leukemia and meningeal leukemia[1][5]. Nimustine (also known as nimustine hydrochloride or ACNU) is an alkylating agent from the nitrosourea class that works by cross-linking DNA strands and inhibiting DNA replication and transcription[6]. This combination leverages both drugs' mechanisms to enhance antitumor efficacy.
