Cytochrome C6 is a hemeprotein that serves as an electron carrier in cellular respiration. In the context of clinical research led by Dinara Zhumanbayeva, it is being investigated as an oral intervention (10 mg) to mitigate cognitive impairment, jet lag syndrome, and acute mountain sickness associated with long-haul air travel. It is hypothesized that by supporting mitochondrial electron transport and reducing oxidative stress, Cytochrome C6 can help maintain cognitive function and physiological stability in passengers exposed to the hypoxic and circadian-disrupting environment of high-altitude flights. The drug is part of a multi-drug intervention strategy compared against melatonin or no intervention in healthy volunteers.
