Overview

Cytovir is a proprietary adoptive cellular therapy developed by Cell Medica, a cell therapeutics company. It is designed to treat and prevent viral infections, primarily cytomegalovirus (CMV), and potentially adenovirus (ADV) and Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), particularly in high-risk patients following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (bone marrow transplant). The therapy involves the use of virus-specific T-cells, such as CMV-specific T-cells, to reconstitute the immune system and combat these infections. Cell Medica secured significant financing to advance the commercialization of Cytovir CMV and Cytovir ADV in Europe and the development of Cytorex EBV in the US.
