Overview

Cytovir-3 is an approved, over-the-counter combination drug developed by Cytomed for the prevention and treatment of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI). It consists of three active components: bendazole hydrochloride (an immunomodulator and vasodilator), alpha-glutamyl-tryptophan sodium (Thymogen, a synthetic dipeptide immunomodulator), and ascorbic acid (Vitamin C, an antioxidant). Bendazole stimulates the production of endogenous interferons and inhibits phosphodiesterases, while alpha-glutamyl-tryptophan normalizes T-cell-mediated immunity by binding to DNA promoter regions and activating metabotropic glutamate receptors. Ascorbic acid acts as an antioxidant, reduces capillary permeability, and enhances humoral immunity. Together, these components provide synergistic immunostimulatory and indirect antiviral effects, reducing the severity and duration of respiratory infections.
