Cyzact is a topical, cell-based wound care product consisting of living allogeneic human dermal fibroblasts embedded in a human fibrin gel matrix, developed originally by Intercytex as ICX-PRO for the treatment of chronic wounds such as venous leg ulcers and diabetic foot ulcers. The fibroblasts are intended to stimulate active wound repair by producing extracellular matrix components and growth factors that promote granulation tissue formation, collagen deposition, and re-epithelialization within a persistent chronic wound environment. Cyzact underwent phase III clinical evaluation in venous leg ulcers but failed to meet its primary endpoint, after which certain assets including the technology and cell banks were acquired by Healthpoint to integrate into its regenerative medicine and wound healing portfolio.
