Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CZ-2294 is an orally administered, acid-stable oxalate-degrading enzyme being developed to reduce intestinal oxalate burden and thereby treat or prevent hyperoxaluria and related kidney stone disease. It is designed to remain active in the acidic environment of the upper gastrointestinal tract and enzymatically break down dietary oxalate before absorption, potentially lowering urinary oxalate excretion and mitigating calcium oxalate stone formation.[1][4] Initially developed by Captozyme and now advanced by Arranta Bio in the US, CZ-2294 represents an enzyme-replacement–style, non-systemic therapeutic targeted to patients with primary or secondary hyperoxaluria and those at high risk of recurrent oxalate nephrolithiasis.[1][4]
