Drug intelligence / Profile preview
CZ130 is a small molecule, selective thyroid hormone receptor beta (THR-beta) agonist developed by Nanjing Hongjing Pharmaceutical Technology for the treatment of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). By specifically targeting the THR-beta isoform, which is predominantly expressed in the liver, CZ130 promotes hepatic lipid metabolism and reduces intrahepatic fat accumulation. This mechanism aims to treat the underlying causes of NASH while avoiding the deleterious effects associated with THR-alpha activation, such as increased heart rate and bone mineral density loss. The drug is currently undergoing clinical evaluation to assess its safety, tolerability, and efficacy in improving liver health markers.
