Overview

D-23-014 (Fakell) is a topical combination drug developed by Dong-A Pharmaceutical for the treatment of keratosis pilaris, a common skin condition characterized by rough, "goose bump" patches caused by keratin plugging in hair follicles. The formulation contains 20% urea, tocopherol acetate (Vitamin E), and monoammonium glycyrrhizinate. Urea serves as a potent keratolytic agent that softens the stratum corneum and dissolves keratin plugs, while tocopherol acetate promotes skin repair and monoammonium glycyrrhizinate provides anti-inflammatory relief to reduce redness and irritation. D-23-014 was approved and launched in South Korea as an over-the-counter (OTC) medication in early 2024 to address skin roughness and hyperkeratosis.
