Overview

**d-ala2-gip-glu-pal** is a synthetic, long-acting peptide analogue of *glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP)*, engineered for increased stability and activity. It acts as an agonist of the GIP receptor, enhancing GIP signaling, which results in both metabolic and neuroprotective effects. In preclinical studies, d-ala2-gip-glu-pal reduces damage to dopaminergic neurons, prevents neuronal apoptosis, inhibits neuroinflammation, and improves cognitive functions in mouse models of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease[1][2][3]. Mechanistically, it upregulates cAMP/PKA/CREB signaling, increases BDNF expression, reduces oxidative stress and lipid peroxidation, and inhibits amyloid-beta deposition and inflammation[2]. The peptide is primarily investigated as a research tool and is not marketed or approved for clinical use.
