d-alanine6 gonadotropin-releasing hormone is a **synthetic peptide analog** of the natural gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), in which the sixth amino acid, glycine, is replaced by D-alanine. This modification enhances its potency and increases resistance to enzymatic degradation. Like native GnRH, this analog is a potent **GnRH receptor agonist**, stimulating the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the pituitary gland. With prolonged exposure, it suppresses gonadal steroid production due to receptor desensitization. This analog has been used in reproductive research and as an ovulation inducer and synchronizer in animal studies but is primarily for research use, not as an approved therapeutic agent in humans[2][6]. The D-Ala6 modification is a well-studied alteration for creating potent, long-acting GnRH agonists.
